Founded in January 2006, we have thousands of members around the globe. Here's how it works: -- Apply for free membership. (Open to licensed amateur radio operators only.) -- Make HF radio contacts using any of the three early original types of manual telegraph keys: Straight Key, Bug and Cootie. -- Gain on-air experience in sending and receiving by swapping numbers with other members; enter Club sponsored sprints, contests and special events; rag chew; earn activity & achievement awards; access our online resources, newsletter, forums and chat. It can be found here. 73, Ted — K8AQM/VE9AQM SKCC —1629S The CWops Award for Advancing the Art of CW CWops is pleased to announce that it is now accepting nominations for this prestigious award for the year 2020. The purpose of the award is to recognize individuals, groups, or organizations that have made the greatest contribution(s) toward advancing the art or practice of radio communications by Morse code. Criteria Candidates for the award may be one or more of the following: * Authors of publications related to CW * CW recruiters, trainers, mentors, coaches and instructors * Public advocates of CW * Organizers of CW activities * Designers and inventors who advance the art or practice of CW * Other contributors to the art or practice of CW Note: The award is not limited to amateur radio operators or their organizations. Nomination Nominations may be made by anybody (not limited to CWops members). Nominations should be emailed to awards@cwops.org with a copy to secretary@cwops.org . In order to be considered, a nomination must be received by March 18, 2020 and include: * Name(s) and call sign(s) (if applicable) of nominee(s), and complete contact information including their postal address(es), email address(es), and telephone number(s). * A detailed explanation supporting nominee qualifications according to the above criteria. * Name, telephone number, email address, and call sign (if applicable) of the person submitting the nomination. Presentation of Award A plaque will be presented at the Dayton Hamvention. If the recipients are not present, it will be sent to them. New Entry Category for WES submissions The SKCC Board has approved a “Multi Operator” category for submission entries to the WES scoring submission web form. All “Multi Operator” stations please use that category for posting your WES results. The “Multi Operator” category can be found as a selection in the result box called “Power Level” which has QRPp - 1W or Less, QRP - 5W or Less, QRO - 100W or Less, QRO+ - Over 100W and now Multi - Operator. This new category will allow the club/contest station members of the SKCC to see their results separate from all the other WES submissions. What's New... Our Newest Members! Those last few contacts are always hard to find. SKCC's Monthly Operating Events Monthly Straight Key Night SKCC Straight Key Night (SKN) occurs from 0000 - 2359 UTC on the first day of each month. It is not a contest, so there is no need to submit logs. But it is a good opportunity to work toward the club's achievement awards. The operating event, the club's first, was inspired by the ARRL's annual Straight Key Night. The SKCC's founders wanted to have Straight Key Night every month -- a good way to bring members together on the air on a regular basis. The tradition continues! Monthly Slow Speed Saunter: Occurs on the first day of each month from 0000 - 23:59. This is not a contest. The goal is to work slow speed operators @ 12 wpm or less. Please QRS.
